01 — A Brief History

Pembrokes have been herding in Pembrokeshire, Wales since 1107 AD. They may have been interbred with Flemish Spitz. AKC recognized Pembroke in 1934, Cardigan in 1935.

03 — So I Heard You Like Herding

Corgis herd by biting and barking. They have high energy, are intelligent and can be stubborn. Despite their size, they are not apartment dogs. They need exercise and mental stimulation. Obedience training is required.

04 — A Short Dog's Shortcomings

Achondroplastic dwarfism means growth plate injury risks. Watch for hip/elbow dysplasia (OFA testing), IVDD, obesity dangers, DM, PRA, and vWD.

Heavy shedding double coat. Minimal bathing. Never shave. Frequent brushing needed.

Corgis need socialization, obedience, and exercise. They thrive on human interaction. Seek responsible breeders or rescue.
